O'Fallon Stump Removal

Picture
Do you have a tree stump on your property that is causing you trouble? Give us a call today. One of the primary services that we offer is tree stump removal/stump grinding. Large stumps in the middle of a yard can cause a number of issues. Not only are they unsightly, but they can be a breeding ground for pests, such as beetles, termites, and other wood boring insects. If such a stump is left near a house these pests can potentially
migrate from the stump to the house and cause major damage. Furthermore, stumps can be become obstacles when it comes to lawn mowing/landscaping and will often turn in into tripping hazards – especially for young children. Also, an unattended stump can promote new unwanted tree growth, causing you a headache if you’ve recently paid to have the tree removed.

While it is possible for home owners to remove small stumps on their own, it usually requires special equipment in order to remove large stumps. The most common tool used for this task is a stump grinder. This is a large tool which grinds down the stump and main roots until they are slightly below ground level. While this process will not entirely remove the root system attached to the stump, it will do away with the visible part of the stump, eliminate most of the issues related to the stump, and give you the opportunity to plant new trees and bushes nearby.

If the stump that you have is small enough that you feel comfortable removing it on your own, you can dig it out. Or, if you have time you can “rot out” the stump. This is a special process which involves drilling holes about ten inches deep all over the top of the stump and filling them with potassium nitrate/hot water.  After about three months the stump will have turned spongy and will be much easier to remove using axes and picking tools. You can also use espom salt in place of the potassium nitrate/hot water. If you decide to go this route you will also want to coat the outside of the stump with epsom salt, cover the stump with a  tarp, and wait several months before attempting to remove the stump with picking tools. However, if you have a large tree stump or don’t have time to take on this lengthy procedure, please contact us and allow our experts to help you remove the stump quickly and efficiently. If you require this service as part of a tree removal project, the two services can be bundled together and offered to you at a reduced rate, saving you both time and money.

Again, if you have stump that you need removed please call O'Fallon tree service and allow us to improve the condition of your yard. Furthermore, if you would like a quote or are unsure whether a stump should be removed, don’t hesitate to reach out and take advantage of one of our free inspections.
